BRCA July Newsletter

July 2025

Salam Hangat from BRCA!

Hello to our amazing members and the ever-passionate F&B community across Bali.

We’re excited to share the June edition of our BRCA Newsletter — something to enjoy wherever you are, whether you’re busy in the kitchen, planning your next menu, or taking a quick moment to relax with a cold coconut in hand.

This month? It was sizzling — in the best way possible. We had an unforgettable time at Bali Meat Park Festival, where 11 of our BRCA members brought serious flavor and good vibes to the beach. Think smoky grills, happy crowds, and that unbeatable Bali sunset glow. It was a perfect mix of food, fun, and community — just the way we like it.

Thanks for being part of it all. Dive in, catch up, and we’ll see you around the island!

Here’s a sneak peek at our next luncheon venue: Nutrio Restaurant at REVĪVŌ Wellness Resort.

In Bali where nature and culture shape every stay, protecting the island is a shared mission. Many wants to be more sustainable, but it’s not always easy. That’s why BRCA supports members with simple, practical guidance. And you don’t have to do it alone, here are some inspiring brands leading the way in sustainability and open to collaboration.

1. Waste Management

noovoleum

Ever wondered what happens to used cooking oil after it’s tossed?

According to Chitra Ananda, Head of Business Development, noovoleum’s UCOllect Solution is changing the game—giving communities and businesses a smarter, greener way to dispose of Used Cooking Oil (UCO). With their automated drop-off boxes and connected app, you can safely deposit UCO and instantly receive incentives through the platform. In Bali, 18 collection points are spread across the island to gather used cooking oil.

But that’s just the beginning. noovoleum partners with a certified third party to collect the oil from these boxes, which is then exported and transformed into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Biodiesel—contributing directly to renewable energy efforts.

What’s more, businesses and partners receive a monthly Sustainability Report, making it easy to track your environmental impact and proudly showcase your contribution to a cleaner future. It’s effortless, impactful, and designed for a more sustainable tomorrow.

2. Waste Management

ZBIO

What if your food waste could actually help the planet?

Fredric Tanuwijoyo, co-founder of Z Bio, shared how their company is turning kitchen scraps into something meaningful-transforming food waste into sustainable animal feed and organic fertilizer.

If you’ve ever wondered how to dispose of food waste responsibly, Z Bio makes it incredibly easy. They’ll provide a designated bin for your waste, collect it on a schedule that works for you, and even send you a Zero Waste Report-so you can see your impact firsthand. It’s simple, stress-free, and a step toward a greener Bali. Interested in joining the movement?

3. Sustainability Certification

ECO TOURISM BALI

Want your restaurant to be recognized for sustainability?

More and more travelers are choosing to dine at places that care about the planet. Getting certified is a powerful way to show your commitment — and stand out in a crowded market.

That’s why BRCA is proud to partner with Eco Tourism Bali (ETB), an organization with a strong track record in helping make Bali a more sustainable destination. And now, through this collaboration, we’re introducing the Eco Climate Badge (ECB) by ETB.

The ECB is designed to help restaurants and cafés align with global sustainability standards like the GSTC and UN SDGs. More than just a label, it’s a verified badge that turns your real sustainability efforts into visible, credible recognition — showing guests that your business meets high social and environmental standards.

Backed by Travalyst (founded by Prince Harry), ECB puts you among the top 2% of green F&B businesses in Bali.

We’d also like to shine a light on another meaningful effort led by Eco Tourism Bali (ETB). In honor of World Mangrove Day, ETB is joining forces with Suparma, Luisa, and Daniel to plant 1,000 mangrove seedlings along the coast of Batu Lumbang, Denpasar. This thoughtful initiative not only supports coastal restoration but also reflects the growing movement toward regenerative tourism — giving back more than we take. A quiet reminder from nature: even the smallest roots can anchor real change.

We’re so excited to welcome Rahmi Fajar Harini — or as many know her, Ami—to the BRCA board! Her work in driving sustainability in Bali’s tourism industry has been nothing short of extraordinary and is widely recognized

Born and raised in Bali, Ami has always had a deep love for her island and its people. That love shines through in everything she does—especially in building ETB into what it is today: a movement that puts sustainability and community at the center of tourism. But that’s just part of the story. Ami is also a serial entrepreneur, a mentor who’s supported over 300 small businesses (many led by women), a certified GSTC Auditor, and a global trainer for the UNEP/UN Tourism Global Tourism Plastics Initiative

The best part? She’s now part of our BRCA family. That means our members have direct access to someone who lives and breathes sustainability—ready to share insights, ideas, and support whenever needed. Welcome aboard, Ami! We’re lucky to have you.

Bali Tourism Thrives in Early 2025

The first five months of 2025 brought a wave of good news for Bali’s tourism and F&B industries. With 2.64 million international arrivals—up 10.56% from the same period in 2024—the island is on track to help Indonesia meet its ambitious goal of 6.5 million foreign visitors this year.

THE NUMBER OF FOREIGN TOURISTS ARRIVAL TO BALI BY MONTH

This steady influx signals a strong rebound and continued growth in Bali’s tourism sector, with ripple effects across the food and beverage scene. As more travelers explore the island, the demand for exceptional dining experiences rises—creating fresh opportunities for restaurants, cafés, and culinary entrepreneurs.
